SEVERITY OF ANGULAR LEAF SPOT (PHAEOISARIOPSIS GRISEOLA) ON COMMON BEAN CULTIVARS IN SÃO PAULO

ABSTRACT

Severity of angular leaf spot (Phaeoisariopsis griseola) on twelve common beans cultivars was evaluated during summer season of 1995 and 1996, during spring season of 1994/1995 and 1995/1996, and during winter season of 1994, 1995 and 1996 at different localities in São Paulo State, Brazil. Two experiments were carried out, one without and another with chemical control. The experimental design was a randomized block with twelve treatments (cultivars) with four replications. The twelve studied treatments were: Carioca, IAC-Carioca, IACMaravilha, IAC-Una, IAPAR-57, IAPAR-65, Carioca-MG, FT-120, Safira, Ônix, Aporé and Diamante Negro. The disease severity was evaluated on a scale varying from 1 to 9. The less affected cultivars were Ônix and Aporé, the most susceptible ones were IAPAR-57 and IAPAR-65, in all localities studied.
