SEVERITY OF RUST (UROMYCES APPENDICULATUS) ON COMMON BEAN CULTIVARS IN SÃO PAULO (1994/1996)

ABSTRACT

Severity of rust (Uromyces appendiculatus) on twelve common bean cultivars was evaluated during and autumn-winter season of 1994, 1995 and 1996 at four localities in São Paulo State, Brazil. Two experiments were carried out, one without and another with chemical control. The experimental design was a randomized block with twelve treatments (cultivars) with four replications. The twelve studied treatments were: Carioca, IAC-Carioca, IAC-Maravilha, IACUna, IAPAR-57, IAPAR-65, Carioca-MG, FT-120, Safira, Ônix, Aporé, and Diamante Negro. The disease severity was evaluated on a scale from 1 to 9. The less affected cultivars were Ônix and Aporé; the most susceptible ones were IAPAR-57 and IAPAR-65, in all localities studied.
