CHEMICAL CONTROL OF THE WHITE FLY BEMISIA TABACI (GENNADIUS, 1889) BBIOTYPE (HEMIPTERA: ALEYRODIDAE) IN BEAN CROP

ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to evaluate the efficiency of insecticides for control of white flies Bemisia tabaci B-biotype in beans, with high infestation in Miguelópolis county, São Paulo State, Brazil. The products and dosages used were (g a i./ha): thiamethoxam 250 WG (25 and 50); Diafenthiuron 500 PM (300 and400); thiamethoxam + Diafenthiuron (25 + 300); Imidacloprid 700 GrDA (175) and Check. It was observed that all treatments were efficient in reducing the nimph population for 36 days, with weekly application. All insecticides were ineffective in reducing the adult population of white flies, because of the great density of the pest, and the variety of hosts in the locale.
