COMPARISON OF INDIRECT FLUORESCENT ANTIBODY TEST AND MODIFIED AGGLUTINATION TEST TO DETECT ANTIBODIES TO TOXOPLASMA GONDII IN SERA FROM SHEEP, GOATS, DOGS AND CATS

ABSTRACT

A total of 400 serum samples from sheep, goats, dogs and cats (100 samples each) were tested to anti-Toxoplasma gondii antibodies by the fluorescent antibody test (FAT) and MAT (modified aggutination test). In FAT 23.0%, 8.0%, 18.0% and 18.0% from sheep, caprine, dogs and cats samples were positive, respectively, while in MAT 27.0%, 11.0%, 19.0% and 19.0% from sheep, caprine, dogs and cats, were positive, respectively. None significant difference were found between the tests, and the kappa index from 0.59 to 0.84 reveals the concordance between the tests.
