CHARACTERIZATION AND RECORD OF AULACASPIS ROSAE (BOUCHÉ, 1833) (HEMIPTERA, DIASPIDIDAE) ON RUBUS SP. (ROSACEAE), RIO GRANDE DO SUL, BRAZIL

ABSTRACT

The armored scale insects identification has been very important by their potencial as pests, mainly the exotic ones, that are usually unaccompanied of their natural enemies. A large infestation of Aulacaspis rosae (Bouché, 1833) was found in São Luiz, 3rd District of Farroupilha, RS, on October/1999. The preparation and determination of the material were accomplished at the Laboratory of Entomology of Fundação Estadual de Pesquisa Agropecuária, FEPAGRO, Porto Alegre, RS. The prevention through control quarantine should be more rigorous in the introduction of exotic plants.
