ABSTRACT
The authors describe the occurrence of listeriosis in 90% of a rabbit plantel. Neurologic signs, oftalmy, abortion and death soon after birth were the signs observed. Bacteriological examination of central nervous system, liver and conjunctival sac in enrichment and selective media led to the biochemical identification of Listeria monocytogenes. The histopathological findings in the nervous system were meningoencephalitis with leucocyte assembly. The source of infection is only suggested as no complementary analyses were done.
