OCCURRENCE OF THE GUMBORO DISEASES IN LAYING HENS CAUSED BY HIPERVIRULENT STRAIN

ABSTRACT

The objective of this work is to report the occurrence of infection bursal disease (IBD) in laying hens with 05 weeks age, from the region of Itirapina-S.P., caused by hipervirulent groups within the G-11 group, causing a 50-60% mortality rate in the batch. Genotyping techinique of IBDV by PCR/RFLP based on the method described by JACKWOOD et al. (1994JACKWOOD, D.J. & JACKWOOD, R.J. IBDV: Molecular differentiation of antigenic subtypes among sorotype 1 viruses. Avian Dis., v.38, p.531-537, 1994.) was used for diagnosis. It was concluded that development of new vaccines that protect hens exposed to the environmental virus are extremely important considering that IBD causes great economic loss to the World’s Poultry Industry.
