VALUES OF LEAD IN MINERAL SUPPLEMENTS FOR CATTLE COMMERCIALIZED IN GOIÁS STATE

ABSTRACT

Lead concentrations in mineral salt made in Goiás were measured. Lead was determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. In 15 samples analyzed, only 6 had lower values to the 10 ppm, recommended as the most acceptable value. Lead concentrations ranged from 2.0 to 25.1 ppm with the highest result found in a sample commercialized in Goiânia city. These findings show the necessity for careful industrial monitoring because some mineral mixtures contain sufficient lead to cause bovine toxicity.
