ABSTRACT
The occurrence of coronavirus and rotavirus was surveyed using 72 diarrheic stool specimens from calves reared in 12 municipalities of São Paulo State, using haemagglutination (HA) / haemagglutination inhibition (HI) and Polyacrilamide Gel Electrophoresis (PAGE), respectively, for the detection of these agents. An amount of 14% of the samples were positive for serogroup A rotavirus and 39% were positive for Coronavirus. In one farm it was found a rotavirus/ coronavirus co-infection in 2 calves (3%). These results confirmed the participation of rotavirus and coronavirus in the etiology of neonatal calf diarrhea in the surveyed area.
