ABSTRACT
Eleven fruit tree rootstocks (blackberry, raspberry, guava, apple, quince, loquat, macadamia nut, olive, pear, Prunus and, japanese apricot) were evaluated in greenhouse for their reaction to Meloidogyne incognita raça 2 and M. javanica. Plants growing in plastic pots were individually inoculated with 5,000 eggs of each nematode species. After 4 months, data regarding the reproductive rate of the nematodes (egg-mass and gall indexes; number of nematodes per gram of roots and per root system) were recorded. Only the cultivar GF 677 of Prunus persica x P. dulcis was rated as susceptible to both species. All other genotypes were resistant even though some of them allowed the nematodes to reproduce slightly within their roots.
