PRESENCE OF MYZOCALLIS KURICOLA (MATSUMURA, 1917) (HOMOPTERA: APHIDOIDEA: DREPANOSIPHIDAE) IN BRAZIL AND FIRST RECORD OF SPECIES IN THE NEOTROPICAL REGION

ABSTRACT

Myzocallis kuricola (Matsumura, 1917) (Hemiptera: Aphidoidea: Drepanosiphidae) collected in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro States, associated to Castanea sativa Miller (Fagaceae), C. vesca Gaertner and Castanea sp. represent the first report for this species in Brazil and Neotropical Region. This species is new for Continental Portugal and Azores also, where it was found on C. sativa. M. kuricola is native from Japan, Korea and Taiwan and the first report out of this area was made by ILHARCO (1984)ILHARCO, F.A. New records to the aphid fauna of the archipelago of Madeira. Bol. Mus. Munic. Funchal, v.36, n.163, p.177-206, 1984. for Madeira, Portugal associated with C. crenata Siebold & Zuccarini. Agricultural damage caused by this aphid is unknown.
