ABSTRACT
The occurrence of antibodies to Brucella abortus was investigated in stray dogs of the city of Patos, Paraíba State, Brazil. For this purpose, 118 blood samples were collected from dogs located in six different areas of the city of Patos, from January to March of 2003. The buffered plate antigen test (BPAT) was used as a screening test and the 2Mercaptoethanol test (2-ME) was applied as a confirmatory test.The seropositivity to Brucella abortus found was 0.85% (1/118).
