OCCURRENCE OF PELONYSSUS REEDI (ZUMP & PATTERSON, 1952) (ACARI: MESOSTIGMATA) IN NEST OF SOUTHERN HOUSE WREN TROGLODYTES AEDON (PASSERIFORMES: TROGLODYTIDAE) IN PELOTAS, RS, BRAZIL

ABSTRACT

The author describes the occurrence of Pelonyssus reedi (Zump & Patterson, 1952) (Acari: Mesostigmata) in an artificial nest of house wren Troglodytes aedon (Passeriformes: Troglodytidae) in the urban area of Pelotas, RS, Brazil. This report characterizes the first citation for this mite in the state and it seems to be the first citation in Brazil.
