PARASITES OF WILD ANIMALS IN THE STATE OF RIO GRANDE DO SUL, BRAZIL:II – LICE (AMBLYCERA: ISCHNOCERA) ON NETTA PEPOSACA (ROSY-BILLED POCHARD) (AVES: ANATIDAE)

ABSTRACT

The authors report, for the first time in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, parasitism by the menoponid louse Trinoton querquedulae and by the philopterid lice Anatoecus icterodes, Anaticola sp. and Acidoproctus fuligulae on the host Netta peposaca, order Anseriformes, family Anatidae. Data about prevalence, abundance and mean intensity of parasitism of the lice are also reported.
