ABSTRACT
Porcine circovirus-2 (PCV-2) is an icosahedric nonenveloped virus with a diameter of from 15 to 17 nm. It is the smallest animal virus and is associated with many swine syndromes, responsible for economic losses for pig farms. The high variability of the enconding genes for the structural proteins associated with the co-infections makes the diagnosis and prevention of this virus more difficult.
