RESPONSES OF BEAN GENOTYPES TO ZABROTES SUBFASCIATUS (BOHEMAN, 1833) (COLEOPTERA: BRUCHIDAE) INFESTATION IN LABORATORY CONDITIONS

ABSTRACT

The present work had the objective to study the behavior of bean genotypes to the attack of Zabrotes subfasciatus (Boheman, 1833) (Coleóptera: Bruchidae) checking the non-preference to opposition and/or feeding and/or antibiosis. Free choice and no choice tests in laboratory conditions were carried out with 2083, IAPAR-MD-806; CARIOCA; 2167(206-06); 188-43-2370; 2161; 208-10-2401; 208-13-2307; 234.B-03-607(7) and 2044. Treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design with ten and ten replications, respectively, with samples of 10g of seeds. In no-choice test was sampled the parameters total number of eggs, number of viable and unviable eggs, viability of eggs, number and percentage of emerged inseds, weight and longevity of females and males and dry weight of the consumed food. For the free-choice test, was evaluated the total number of eggs, number of Pable and unviable eggs, viability of eggs, number of insects attract for the genotypes. With the obtained results, it can be concluded that all the genotypes were preferred to opposition and the IAPAR-MD- 806 genotypes showed resistance of the types non-preference to feeding and/or antibiosis.
