ABSTRACT
In 27 dissections of digestive tracts of capybaras, Hydrochaeris hydrochaeris Linnaeus, 1766, raised under captivity on a farm, Santo Antônio da Patrulha, RS, and killed in a slaughterhouse, Viamão, RS, from March to September 2000, the trichostrongylid Vianella hydrochoeri (Travassos, 1914) Travassos 1918 was found in the small intestine. The genital cone of the males of V. Hydrochoeri, including the pair of papillae "7", were measured to improve the taxonomic study of this helminth.
