ARTHROPODS ASSOCIATED WITH PIG CARCASS IN ITUMBIARA, SOUTH OF GOIÁS

ABSTRACT

The objective of this work was to determine the arthropod fauna associated with pig carcass in the region of Itumbiara, GO. Pig carcass (Sus scrofa domesticus) was used as bait. Two baits were exposed to enviromental conditions in two different sites: pasture and a forest area. In the first area the pig was exposed to direct sunlight , and in the forest, the pig was placed in the shade. Sixteen families of arthropods were collected: Calliphoridae, Fanniidae, Phoridae, Muscidae, Stratiomyidae (Diptera), Carabidae, Chrysomelidae, Dermestidae, Histeridae, Scarabaeidae, Staphylinidae, Trogidae (Coleoptera), Eucoilidae, Pteromalidae (Hymenoptera) and Macrochelidae (Acarina). The most important species were: Diptera - Chrysomya albiceps (Calliphoridae); Coleoptera - Trichillum externepunctatum (Scarabaeidae); Hymenoptera - Spalangia endius (Pteromalidae); Acarina - Macrocheles muscaedomesticae (Macrochelidae).
