ABSTRACT
The aim of this work is to describe the occurence of the parasite Lepidophthirus macrorhini (Anoplura) in southern elephant seals (Mirounga leonina) from Elephant Island (South Shetlands, Antarctica). This report characterizes the first record of parasitism by this species in the Antarctic Peninsula region.
