Number 2, Volume 25 of 'Acta Limnologica Brasiliensia' Journal comprises ten original scientific articles addressing different themes and distinct aquatic communities. The articles come from various research institutions of several regions in the country. One of the articles is experimental, and the other nine were field-developed in different Brazilian states. This number presents two articles focusing on aquatic macrophytes: one developed in the streams of Paraná state and the other in a coastal lagoon in northern Rio de Janeiro state. A third article deals with the influence of flood pulse in the mechanisms of interaction between water and forest in an Amazonian lake, and a fourth article addresses the effect of a flash flood upon aquatic communities along a stream in the northeast region of Sao Paulo state. This number also presents an article on the responsible factors in the distribution of Chironomidae in the north of 'Pantanal', and another treating the dynamics of sediments in an urban stream of Sorocaba, a municipality in the state of Sao Paulo. A research developed in Minas Gerais state, in the high 'Rio Doce' River, discusses the effects of contamination due to gold mining in the zooplankton community. Two articles focus on decomposition processes and the cycle of organic matter: one of them in a mangrove in Santa Catarina state, and the other in a reservoir located in Sao Paulo state. The articles published in this number show that 'Acta' presents wide coverage regarding research topics, communities studied, and geographic ampleness. We consider that our journal has been fulfilling its role of disseminating scientific knowledge in the area of Limnology and collaborating to expand the knowledge of this science.
