True Medicine and Spiritual Healing in Late Medieval Moralising Literature

Abstract

This article studies the leitmotif of the Christus medicus in late medieval literary texts. In all cases, the presence of a Christ doctor is evidenced from examples of medical and religious terms; signs of Christ as a healer of humanity and thaumaturgist, and in the metaphorical realm, where Christ is the good doctor. In these pages, we will analyse the relationship established between this leitmotif of Christ as a doctor and various fragments, through meditation and reflection by means of the allegorical word.
