To him, with love: notes to Victor Heringer

Abstract

This essay seeks to discuss saudade (of, and not in, Victor Heringer) as an attempt to pay homage to him in the sense that the reading of his literary production can, in a personal and non-transferable way, almost like the event, change the perception, and open new understandings, not only of the work itself but also of the tension in the theory that creates generic, universalizing formulations. Through movements that seek to reflect on the junction of what is read through the literary as the basis for questioning the theory without separating one from the other, we will re-read arguments around the chronicle genre and how literature would have the capacity to change someone's life and to produce, as a result, an attempt to understand what remains when the author-reader relationship is broken and what remains, in terms of survival and affection, after the author’s death.

Keywords:
