MANIFESTATION OF MIGUELIST COUNTERREVOLUTION IN BRAZIL (1823-1834)

Abstract:

This article addresses the repercussions of miguelism in Brazil between 1823 and 1828. We highlight the political manifestations that happened in Brazilian provinces referencing the infant who had been acclaimed as King D. Miguel by the traditional Kingdom Courts in 1828. The primary source used was the liberal newspaper Aurora Fluminense, edited by Evaristo da Veiga. In addition to Aurora, Portuguese journals such as A Trombeta Final, Defeza de Portugal and Gazeta de Lisboa were verified.
