This article is a first approach on the 'imaginaire' of Brasil's Independence and deals with the project of a monument intended to celebrate the place where it was declared (the Ipiranga fields in São Paulol and the date (September 8, 1822). The discussion focus on the construction project put orward in the seventies of last century.
