Between the years of 1953 and 1955, the Ibirapuera Park, one of the main green areas in the City of São Paulo, received the inauguration of three great monumental, sculptural and architectural landmarks, whose formal features allow us to understand the relation between plastic arts and the movements defending an identity of the city of São Paulo. This essay intends thus to point out the artistic specificity of these landmarks, at the same time that it considers them as urban symbolic artifacts, capable of distinguishing and aggregating old and new inhabitants of the city and of the state of São Paulo, as well as identifying them before other Brazilians.
