Two cases of familial proximal muscular atrophy characterized by motor impairment and muscle atrophies with proximal distribution secondary to lesion of the peripheral motor neurons are reported. As in other cases reported in medical literature, the first diagnosis was that of progressive muscular distrophy. The correct diagnosis was made through muscle biopsy and electromiography.
