Congenital tumors of the central nervous system: III - Teratomas

Three cases of intracranial teratomas are reported. The authors call attention to the fact that such cases are very scarce in world medical literature, and then emphasize the clinical aspects of two of their cases (case 2 and 3), both of which had a different evolution than the one commonly described, presenting an acute picture of intracranial hypertension. The three cases are different as to their histological aspects. Only the first one presents the typical aspects of the classical teratoma. The other two cases present aspects of their own: case 2 has the characteristics of a sarco-carcinoma; case 3 has the characteristics of what Russell calls pineal solid teratoma, even though it was impossible to recognize such a gland.
