The author reports 150 cases of progressive muscular dystrophy studied in the out-patients service of the Department of Neurology at the Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo Medical School among 33,662 patients registered till June 1959. Considerations are made on the histopathological picture, etiology, clinical forms and the several disease patterns. Five cases are reported in full.
