EDITORIAL
In this year the scientific journal, Acta Paulista de Enfermagem, completes 25 years of uninterrupted circulation. Its launch, in 1988, is considered by the Paulista School of Nursing as a landmark for the dissemination of knowledge, in a period marked by the rise of graduate degree studies, in the area of nursing.
Its trajectory, in the steps of its childhood and adolescence, was affected by serious infrastructural barriers that were solved by the persistent and resilient work of the scientific and associate editors responsible for its circulation in the national scenario of scientific journals.
Upon entering its adulthood, it became stronger due to the work undertaken continuously over a few years by its scientific editors, attentive to changes occurring in the processes of knowledge production and the vehicles of dissemination to meet the standardized quality requirements in the international and national environments. Technical and associate editors, ad hoc consultants, reviewers and editorial office staff collaborated in this venture.
At this time, Acta is a scientific journal on the rise, given the current quality criteria: open access beginning in 2012, availability of an application for the iPad in Portuguese and English languages (free download), support from the Universidade Federal de São Paulo, and the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development; an editorial board composed of researchers from Brazil and abroad; indexing in national and international databases, emphasizing the Web of Science/ISI, SCOPUS, CUIDEN, CINAHL, SciELO and LILACS; classification in stratum A2 of the QUALIS/CAPES index, used in the evaluation of the graduate degree studies; submission and monitoring of its works in the Thomson Reuters ScholarOne platform; priority selection of original works that add value to the areas of nursing and health care; and, increasing rates of citation of articles (SJR) beginning in 2006.
Thus, in the view of those who actively participated in the life of Acta, I present compliments to the Paulista School of Nursing on the progress made, by this journal, in its completing 25 years of existence.
