A darkest homeland: the remains of amnesty

ABSTRACT

This article explores certain links between Contemporary Brazilian Art and the 2013 and 2015's events in the country, when a parcel of the population occupied the streets in protests against the president. The conciliation settlement, that would establish an agreement between the dictatorship defenders and their democratic opponents, reaches to instill a kind of social amnesia that kept latent the conflict. I analyze three works: Fábio Tremonte's Redflag, Clara Ianni's Apelo and Anita Leandro's Retratos de Identidade. These videos point to the history's silence and beg for memory.
