Amid a situation of conflict in the use of land and water in the urban environment, this study investigates the urban itineraries present in the social trajectories and the collective memory of Porto Alegre's inhabitants. It investigates the relation between the inhabitants sense of being rooted in their territories and the recognition of being part of wider social spheres, such as the Metropolitan Region and the Hydrographic Region.
