Descriptive study on the evaluation system of higher education courses in Portugal

The article presents a study that aimed to analyze the evaluation of higher education courses in Portugal resulting from the Bologna Process. The research followed a qualitative methodology orientation, with a descriptive and documentary analysis, focused on the criteria and procedures followed by the Agency of Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher Education, responsible for this process in Portugal. The results show that the course evaluation, as it is desired in the European Higher Education Area, intended to guarantee education quality and to support the improvement of higher education in Portugal. The results also show that quality, being a historically situated concept in this globalization era, is associated with the demands of the market and internationalization, meaning, it is in line with the idea that this level of education has the function of producing knowledge in a network of international contacts and partnerships.
