Treatment of feeds of chickens with organic acids: study of bactericidal efficacy and evaluation of recovery techniques for Salmonella spp

This research was designed to evaluate salmonella recovery from experimentally contaminated feeds and to compare the bactericidal and residual efficacy of acids in feeds for chickens. The bacterial recovery was successful for all of the utilized media, and on a first trial, Bio AddR and Myco CurbR were not effective in the decrease of salmonella in experimentally contaminated feeds. On a second trial, using water solution to apply the acids, Bio AddR and SalmexR were effective. Bactericidal activity on dry mix was not observed with any of the products or levels tested in feeds. In bactericidal and residual evaluations of organic acids, SalmexR was effective and Sal CurbR was not.
