This article presents the results of an investigation into the history of the Special Didactics discipline offered to the Mathematics Degree course at the Faculdade Nacional de Filosofia (FNFi) of the University of Brazil in its first years of operation in the 1940s and 1950s. In the text, the creation of the first universities in Rio de Janeiro and the courses aimed at teacher training are taken as a starting point, highlighting especially the National Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Brazil. We seek to identify and elucidate aspects related to the performance of Eleonora Lobo Ribeiro in teaching the subject of Special Didactics for the Mathematics course at FNFi, in the period when teaching Didactics began to specialize in different content areas. For such analysis, we used the documentation available in the Programa de Estudos e Documentação Educação e Sociedade (Proedes) in addition to other materials authored by Eleonora Lobo Ribeiro as articles published in the I Congresso Nacional de Ensino da Matemática and in the magazine Escola Secundária. As a result, it was possible to list some of the activities in the subject of Special Didactics of Mathematics, topics of the teaching program and tasks performed by undergraduate students in the internship field.
