Influence of storage of flowers buds in the production and quality of squash seeds

The objective of this work was to study the influence of storage male flowers buds, for seed production and quality of squash cultivar Piramoita. The experiment was carried out from August to December, 2005. It was used randomized blocks design, with four replicates and five treatments: manual pollination with flower opened in the day (zero day of storage) and manual pollination with stored buttons in refrigerator (7ºC) for 1, 2, 3 and 4 days. The larger the storage period the lesser the number and mass of seed per fruit and the average fruit weight. It was observed also a loss of seed vigor and germination when the storage period is increased, reducing the quality of the same ones.
