Losses in quality of fiber and seed were evaluated in cotton plants affected by the abnormality of yet unknown cause (December, 1996) "reddish wilting", at State of São Paulo, Brazil. In both cotton products, quality was reduced in proportion to the degree of symptom severity exhibited by affected plants. All the fiber properties were strongly affected, mainly length and maturity. Likewise, physical and physiological properties of the seeds were highly injured too.
