Ratoon fertilization in sugar cane
José Gomes da Silva; Eduardo Abramides2
SUMMARY
A ratoon fertilization field experiment was set up in a latosol of Pirassununga country, State of São Paulo, Brazil.
Sugar cane variety was CB 49/260, at the third harvest.
Results were statistically significant and provided the following conclusions:
a) The deep application (with subsoilage) of 206.6 kg/ha of the fertilizers mixture formula (07-04-12) for the "soqueiras" fertilization provided a highly significant production increase of 22.83 t/ha, or 28% as related to the check ("A"). Economically speaking, this increase means an additional net income of Cr$ 387,51 per ha.
b) The production increase due to the deep subsoiling was of 17.92 t/ha (highly significant) and 7.50 t/ha (not significant) respectively with and without fertilization.
c) The production increase due to the added higher fertilization rate was of 15.33 t/ha (highly significant) and 4.91 t/ha (not significant) respectively with deep application (subsoilage) and surface application.
