SUMMARY
Bronzing, followed by top necrosis of tomatoes and black nightshade, was recorded in 1961 and 1962 on plants growing in an insectary at the Main Agr. Exp. Sta, Instituto Agronômico, Campinas. Similar symptoms have been observed in the past associated with an infestation by the tropicol mite (Hemitarsonemus latus Banks), but in the case here recorded damage to the two species of plants resulted from the infestation with an eriophyid mite, Aculus lycopersici (Massee) K.
