SUMMARY

Several experiments were installed following cotton, corn, rice and soybean crops adequately fertilized, to study the response of phosphorus levels on the yield of soybeans. There was no response in yield increases of soybeans due to the phosphorus applied in spite of the level of soil phosphorus indicated by soil test being low in all cases except one. This indicates that either the method used to determine soil phosphorus was inadequate for Latosolic B "Terra Roxa" when soybean plant was used as an indicator, or, that soybeans were able to exploit the residual soil phosphorus.
