Seven fertilizer experiments with Phaseolus vulgarisL. were conducted in the State of São Paulo on soils frequently cropped and fertilized with NPK. Two of the experiments were repeated in the following year, when only the nitrogen fertilizer was applied. Including the results of the second year, nitrogen increased significantly the yields in five cases, phosphorus, in two, sulfur as well as the mixture of micro-nutrients (Zn, Cu, B and Mo), in one, and potassium, in none of them.
