This paper aims at analyzing the relationship between VSI-PWM frequency converters behavior and a very common type of power quality disturbance, i.e. the well known voltage sag effect. By using a proper model into the Saber Simulator, simulation results for a typical system under symmetrical and asymmetrical sag phenomenon conditions are shown. Experimental results are also given in order to validate the computational behaviour. The converter ride-through capability as well as the protection units interaction are also included into the analysis.
