The Paulista Museum at USP and the memory of Independence

This paper is aimed at discussing the links between the Paulista Museum at the University of São Paulo and the construction and updating processes of the memory of Independence. It also focuses on the pedagogic role this Institution played, mainly during the first half of the XXth century. It thus intends to contribute to the comprehension of museums of history as "places of memory" and as spaces where historical problems are formulated and dealt with.
