RESUMO: Os limites e as possibilidades de intervenção sobre os corpos (e a população) configuram um debate que tem mobilizado agentes, saberes e instituições diversas. Neste caso, focalizei essa questão no interior da ordem médica, ressaltando seus cruzamentos com o campo da educação. Para tanto, analisei aspectos dessa problemática, para dar a ver uma estratégia de doutrinação e o modo como a problemática do corpo é representada em um manual empregado na formação médica. Exercício esse que possibilita compreender um dispositivo que racionaliza e legitima determinados procedimentos sobre a vida e os corpos.

ABSTRACT: The limits and possibilities of intervention on the bodies (and population) constitute a debate that has mobilized agents, knowledge and diverse institutions. In this case, I focused this issue within the medical order, highlighting its crossings with the field of education. In order to do so, I have analyzed aspects of this problem, to give a view of an indoctrination strategy and how the problem of the body is represented in a manual used in medical training. This exercise makes it possible to understand a device that rationalizes and legitimizes certain procedures about life and bodies.

RESUMO: No Rio de Janeiro oitocentista, a necessidade de se adquirir uma vida saudável pautada em princípios higiênicos e na prática regular dos exercícios físicos ganhava força. A gymnastica, considerada adequada, adentrava instituições diversas. Entretanto, os elementos que a compunham e o discurso que a sustentava se diferenciavam. Ainda assim, em alguns momentos os diferentes modos de se educar o corpo misturavam-se, compartilhando traços característicos e culminando no engendramento do campo da Educação Física. As trajetórias dos professores Paulo Vidal e Vicente Casali são reveladoras desse movimento.

ABSTRACT: In Rio de Janeiro in the nineteenth century, the need to acquire a healthy lifestyle based on hygienic principles and regular physical exercise gained strength. Gymnastics, considered an appropriate exercise, was adopted by various institutions. However, the elements that composed it and the discourse that supported it differed. Even though, sometimes the different ways of educating the body mingled, sharing characteristic traits and culminating in the engendering of the field of Physical Education. The trajectories of the professors Paulo Vidal and Vicente Casali are revealing of this movement.

RESUMO: A Escola Normal Paulista foi lócus de promoção de inovações pedagógicas e de irradiação de saberes e práticas ao magistério primário. As práticas corporais de cultivo físico e estético, produtoras de uma educação do corpo, eram aquelas que os reformadores e os agentes da instrução pública tinham o interesse de difusão para ter um impacto sobre as Escolas Primárias, foco da regeneração social. Então, quais práticas que compuseram um sentido de educação do corpo estavam presentes na formação de normalistas (1890-1931)? Como resultado, centramos análises sobre a Ginástica e o Escotismo.

ABSTRACT: In the state of São Paulo, Brazil, the Normal School was responsible to spread pedagogic innovations and diffuse new knowledge and practices for primary school. We assume that physic and aesthetic corporal practices, producers of a body education and offered in Normal School, were those reformers and public institution officials who broadcast interest in having an impact grade schools, focusing on social regeneration. So, which practices composed a sense of this education of the body in teacher’s training (1890-1931)? As a result, we focused the analyses on gymnastics and scouting.

RESUMEN: El artículo aborda, sucintamente, algunos aspectos de las vinculaciones entre cuerpo y emoción que, respecto al ámbito educacional chileno, fueron tematizadas por distintos actores a través del período en estudio. Ello supone apreciar cambios desde aquellos enfoques centrados en el control y disciplina del cuerpo (perspectiva hegemónica en el contexto educacional del siglo XIX) hacia nuevas comprensiones de la “naturaleza” de los estudiantes (entendida desde la psicología) y, en consecuencia, a un modo diferente de abordar los atributos de su subjetividad y sus correlatos con lo corporal.

ABSTRACT: The article briefly discusses some aspects of the linkages between body and emotion which, regarding the Chilean educational field, were analyzed by different actors throughout the studied period. This implies to observe changes from those approaches focused on the control and discipline of the body (hegemonic perspective in the educational context of the nineteenth century) and new understandings of students’ “nature” (from psychology) and, consequently, to a different way of approaching the attributes of their subjectivity as well as their embodiment.

RESUMO: Neste artigo abordamos o quotidiano escolar nessa instituição, nas suas primeiras duas décadas e meia de existência, analisando como o modelo pedagógico alternativo se refletiu no controle dos corpos e das almas, nos uniformes, nas noções e práticas de higiene, na limpeza e saúde e como essa dimensão contribuiu para a educação integral dos alunos. O estudo foi desenvolvido com base no espólio documental da própria instituição, assim como na bibliografia publicada sobre o tema, recorrendo também a entrevistas, fotografias e objetos materiais que contribuem para uma compreensão adequada dessa escola nova e inovadora.

ABSTRACT: In this paper, we discuss the school daily life of this institution during its first two and a half decades of existence, analyzing how the alternative pedagogical model has been reflected in the control of bodies and souls, uniforms, notions and practices of hygiene, cleaning and health, and how this dimension has contributed to the comprehensive education of students. The study was developed using the institution’s documental collection, as well as the published literature on the theme, also using interviews, photographs and material objects that contribute to an adequate comprehension of this new and innovative school.

RESUMO: O artigo teve o objetivo de analisar as finalidades para a educação do corpo infantil que permearam a implantação da disciplina Gymnastica no ensino público primário mato-grossense na Primeira República. Inicialmente, o estudo analisou a influência higienista na organização do espaço e do tempo dos grupos escolares para a formação da criança saudável. Em seguida, procurou compreender como a disciplina Gymnastica foi idealizada e colocada em prática no cotidiano escolar. Para a realização da pesquisa, foram utilizadas fontes documentais localizadas no Arquivo Público do Estado de Mato Grosso.

ABSTRACT: The article aimed to analyze the purposes for the education of the infantile body that permeated the implantation of the discipline Gymnastics in the primary public education of Mato Grosso in the First Republic. Initially, it analyzed the hygienist influence in the organization of the space and the time of the school groups for the formation of healthy children. Next, it tried to understand how the discipline Gymnastics was idealized and implemented in the school routine. To accomplish the research, documentary sources located in the Public Archive of the state of Mato Grosso were used.

RESUMO: O presente trabalho se propôs a discutir como a capoeira escrava, criminalizada e violenta foi ressignificada sob a influência do Mestre Bimba, no final do século XIX, transformando-se em esporte nacionalmente conhecido como ginástica brasileira, no início do século XX. Em uma rua pobre do Pelourinho, Salvador, Bahia, em que habitavam vadios e prostitutas, Mestre Bimba estabelece a sua academia, fazendo da prática a qual dedicou toda a sua vida um espaço de educação e luta por reconhecimento em que a “mandinga”, a “malevolência” e a “malandragem” tornam-se objetos de ensino para brancos, negros, pobres e ricos.

ABSTRACT: This paper aims to discuss how the enslaved, criminalized, violent “capoeira” was reconfigured under the influence of Master Bimba in late 19th century, becoming a sport nationally known as a gymnastics modality in early 20th century. In a poor street of Pelourinho, Salvador, Bahia, inhabited by beggars and prostitutes, Master Bimba settled his academy, putting to practice the ideal he had dedicated his whole life to: a space for education and fighting for recognition, in which “mandinga”, “malevolence”, and “trickery” became objects of education for both white and black people, being them poor or rich.

RESUMEN: Este trabajo aborda conceptualmente la estética escolar como objeto histórico-educativa, en tanto “fábrica de lo sensible”, la escuela produce sensorialidades que son parte de las formas en las que los cuerpos “habitan” y “conocen” el mundo. En ese discurso, la escuela ha sido una herramienta para la unificación de prácticas y valores. Haremos un recorrido conceptual sobre los aportes de la retórica y el análisis político del discurso a partir de la noción de metáfora. Se incluirá una somera reseña sobre la construcción discursiva del cuerpo en la publicación Anales de la Educación.

ABSTRACT: This text is a conceptual approach to school aesthetics as a historical-educational object, as a “factory of the sensible”, the school produces sensorialities that are part of the ways in which bodies “live” and “know” the world. Within the framework of this discourse, the school has been a tool for the unification of practices and values. We will make a conceptual presentation on the contributions of rhetoric and the political discourse analysis from the notion of metaphor. It will include a brief review on the discursive construction of the body in the journal Annals of Education

RESUMO: Este ensaio apresenta uma leitura transversal da obra de Georges Hébert e de Émile Jaques-Dalcroze, considerando as relações entre corpo, expressão e educação na natureza. Nesse movimento, a educação faz a passagem da natureza à cultura e da cultura à natureza, ecologizando-se. Assim, o naturismo presente em ambos os estudos funda e atualiza os princípios da ecologia corporal, que envolve o interior de nós, mas também o exterior, em um processo de educação intercorpóreo que envolve o próprio corpo e o corpo do mundo.

ABSTRACT: This essay presents a transversal reading of the work of Georges Hébert and Émile Jaques-Dalcroze, considering the relations between body, expression and education in nature. In this movement, education makes the transition from nature to culture and from culture to nature, becoming ecological. Thus, the naturism present in both studies founds and updates the principles of body ecology as a process of education. The ecology of the body involves the interior of us, but also the exterior in an intercorporeal process that involves the body itself and the body of the world.
