This article analysis the work in the clothing sector based on a research made in the city of São Paulo. This article is focused specifically on home jobs and on the work of immigrants. It is discussed the working conditions in the sector from the configuration of value chains and from the international division of work that it promotes generating a new dynamics in the forms of precariousness that have always marked the sector. This study also discusses the impact of the Brazilian Textile Retail Association (ABVTEX) on the conditions of sewing workers at their homes and at factories
