The present work deals with the synthesis of zirconium oxide under varying conditions of synthesis using conventional furnace (CF) or microwave oven (MO), by the Pechini method. This study was carried out with the primary aim of studying the possible influence of the above parameters as synthesis variables on the structural and morphologic properties of ZrO2. The structural characteristics of the synthesized oxides were determined by X-ray diffractio, infrared and thermal analysis. The morphologic properties were determined by FEG-SEM and isothermal gas adsorption/desorption. The use of MO or CF, or both for the same oxide (MO+CF or CF+MO) has great influence on the degree of crystallinity of the synthesized materials.
