In this paper I describe what is the professional called "public manager". First, it is a conceptual description, therefore, I will user a metaphor to illustrate it.. Second, I discuss the main functions that such a professional should perform. Further I dis-cuss the necessary course structure for a appropriate education of a public manager. Finally I analyze Chile´s political system and call attention for the need of a well-educated public manager.
