Impacts of globalization on the internationalization process of management education programs

The purpose of this article is discussing the impacts of globalization on Management education, based on the changes that took place in the contemporary international context, mainly in terms of the inclusion of emerging countries such as India, China, and Brazil among the academic partners of Management education programs. More specifically, the contribution of this article derives from the critical approach focused on Management education that recognizes the role of emerging countries in knowledge production and consumption. The discussion about the theme, which has a qualitative nature, is based on the description and analysis of the International Masters' Program in Practicing Management (IMPM), created by Henry Mintzberg, in 1995, with recent academic partnerships in China and Brazil. The results obtained indicate that international Management education programs are interested in operating in emerging countries, but these partnerships not always result in a legitimate role that move them from their peripheral positions to the eye of knowledge production in Management. Finally, we raise the question that international Management education programs, even when they are present in these countries through the provision of local modules and participation of individuals from these countries, keep serving as tools to spread the hegemonic and universal Management knowledge.
