Public administration and enviromental education in the Program of Integrated Manegement of Solid Residues: a reflection about a local experience

This study discusses the Program for the Integrated Management of Solid Residues (PGIRS) starting from anexperience in Quirinópolis (Goiás), which was accompanied by the Caixa Econômica Federal. It proposes Environmental Education as a strategy for improving results. The PGIRS Brazilian Federal Government's aims at contributing to the Public Administration of the Municipality in its efforts to solve environmental problems generated by urban waste. It also hopes to promote the participation of local agents in setting up the program, while at the same time, presenting the limitations involved in carrying it out.
