Regional development and new paradigms: initiatives of promotion to regional development in the Mangueira community

The regional development principles application has aroused countless discussions on contemporaneous society. A new development vision is being required before the changes aroused, mainly by globalization and it effects. A vision that calls better attention to regional development initiatives. Before this context, it turns interesting to analyze the public politics driven to promote the regional development as to analyze the innovative public politics that aim the regional dissimilarity reduction from a including and tenable development model. Thereby, it will be presented in this paper discussions about the local development related to the main paradigms. Lastly, utilizing a qualitative research, it will be exposed the Mangueira community case in order to identify how the promotion initiatives to regional development are beeing imnplemented in practice. Results point, by new development perspective, that the sustained politics acting include meaningful improvements in social conditions of the local community, stimulating the participation and citizenship, attenuating the effects of unfair social and economic dissimilarities verified in contemporaneous society.
