Decent work in Catalan solidarity economy

Abstract

This work aims to present an overview of decent work in the solidarity economy of Catalonia. We begin by pointing out the ambiguities of this concept and its international successes. It highlights its difficulties in developing in the hostile system of capitalism and the importance of historical treatment. We carry out a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the reality in Catalonia. Finally, we raise some conclusions and future challenges. The entire work is based on the extensive existing bibliography and qualitative and quantitative analyses, in particular, it uses two instruments from the Catalan Network of the Solidarity Economy - Palmo a Palmo (Pam a Pam), a territorial mapping of initiatives and the social balance that has been carried out since 2007. The result of these analyses is that although the solidarity economy has grown a lot and diversified in recent years, it continues to be a minority movement. However, it meets conditions closer to what can be called decent work.
